Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn about the Conflict of the Orders, a significant political struggle between the patrician and plebeian classes in early Roman Republic, and how it led to major social and political reforms. They will explore key events, such as the Secessions of the Plebs, the creation of the Twelve Tables, and the passage of the Lex Hortensia, which ultimately established greater equality and legal rights for plebeians. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
