In this lesson, students will learn about the unique burial customs of ancient Rome, including the "lying in state" practice, funeral processions, and different burial methods like cremation, mausoleums, and columbaria. They will also explore the use of wax masks and how these practices reflected Roman beliefs about death and social status. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
