Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn how Thebes rose to power in ancient Greece through military innovations and key victories, particularly under the leadership of Epaminondas. They will also explore how Thebes’ dominance was short-lived due to the death of its leader and the resulting collapse of its alliances. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
