In this lesson, students will learn about the landmark Mabo v Queensland case and its pivotal role in recognizing Native Title, overturning the terra nullius doctrine in Australia. They will explore the life and activism of Eddie Mabo, understanding how his fight for Indigenous land rights fundamentally changed Australian law and contributed to the ongoing efforts for reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities.
