In this lesson, students will learn about the causes, major battles, and consequences of the First Sino-Japanese War, including the impact of Japan's modernization and the decline of the Qing dynasty. They will also examine the geopolitical shifts in East Asia that resulted from the war, such as Korea's path to independence and the precursors to the Russo-Japanese War. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
