Meiji Restoration Lesson

In this lesson, students will learn about the pivotal transformation of Japan during the Meiji Restoration, which marked the country's transition from a feudal society to a modern industrialized nation state. The lesson will cover the political, social, and cultural shifts that occurred as Japan rapidly adopted Western technologies and ideas, while also navigating the challenges of preserving its own identity.
