Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn about the Reconstruction Era, focusing on how the United States attempted to rebuild and integrate the Southern states after the Civil War while addressing the rights of newly freed African Americans. They will explore the political, social, and economic challenges of Reconstruction and the lasting effects of this period on American history. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
