Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will learn about the pivotal role the United States played in the Pacific Theater of World War II, focusing on three major naval battles: the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, and the Battle of Guadalcanal. They will gain an understanding of the strategic importance of these battles, the challenges and tactics employed by both sides, and how these conflicts influenced the overall outcome of the war. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research, and video watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
