In this lesson, students will learn about the history of Ancient Rome, covering its origins, the development of the Roman Republic, the rise of the Roman Empire, and the eventual collapse of Roman power by AD 476. By the end of the lesson, they will understand how Rome's political and military changes over centuries determined its fate, and why the story of Rome continues to matter for understanding the modern world. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
