In this lesson, students will learn why the discoveries of Mungo Man and Mungo Lady matter for understanding how long First Nations people have lived in Australia and how archaeologists use scientific dating to establish timelines. They will also learn how burial evidence, grave goods like red ochre, and later repatriation debates provide information about belief systems, mobility, and respect for Indigenous heritage.Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, research and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
