In this lesson, students will examine how the Aztec, beginning as a migrating tribe speaking Nahuatl, became the leading power in central and southern Mexico between 1325 and 1521. They will explore the role of engineering, military expansion, religious belief, and agricultural development in building and sustaining the empire from its island capital, Tenochtitlan. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading, research, and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
