Captain Cook Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the life and voyages of Captain James Cook, tracing his rise from a farm labourer's son to one of Britain's most celebrated naval explorers. They will also investigate the contested consequences of his Pacific expeditions, considering both the advances in European scientific knowledge and the impact on Indigenous communities. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
