In this lesson, students will examine the history of massacres committed against Indigenous Australians by European settlers between 1788 and 1928, with specific focus on events such as the Myall Creek Massacre, the Bathurst War, and the Coniston Massacre. They will explore the causes of each incident, the scale of the violence, and the limited legal consequences that European perpetrators faced. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
