In this lesson, students will examine the religious beliefs of ancient China, from the Bronze Age worship of nature spirits and ancestor veneration through to the rise of Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. They will explore how each of these belief systems offered different ideas about how to live, covering topics such as social responsibility, harmony with nature, the causes of human suffering, and the concept of an afterlife. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
