In this lesson, students will examine the life and travels of Marco Polo, with a focus on his journey through Central Asia to the Mongol Empire and his role in Kublai Khan's court. They will explore how his written accounts transformed European knowledge of Asia, influenced cartography, and contributed to the age of exploration that followed in the centuries after his death. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
