Introduction to Aztec Religion Lesson

Learning objectives

In this lesson, students will examine the religious beliefs of the Aztec civilisation, including their understanding of the gods, human sacrifice, and the afterlife. They will explore the key ceremonies of the Aztec calendar, from the annual spring festival of Tlacaxipehualiztli to the once-in-a-generation New Fire ceremony held every 52 years.Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, from reading, source analysis, and research options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
