In this lesson, students will explore the origins, methods, and expansion of the Viking peoples from Scandinavia between the 8th and 11th centuries AD. They will examine how the Vikings used their unique longship technology to raid across Europe and reach North America, and consider the factors that led to both the rise and eventual disappearance of Viking culture. Students will have the opportunity to achieve this through choosing their own method of learning, including reading, source analysis, research, and watching options, as well as the chance to engage in extension activities. This lesson includes a self-marking quiz for students to demonstrate their learning.
